Lots to see and do at Civil Works Expo

The premier Victorian event for the civil construction industry is on again and, as usual, it is not just a static exhibition.

The Civil Works Expo will be held at Lardner Park near Warragul on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th February 2014 and thousands of visitors will have the chance to see and operate a huge range of machinery and trucks.

Lardner Park Events Chief Executive Officer, Mark Cockerell, said that continual advances are being made in machinery and systems for civil works and landscaping and the Expo is the ideal opportunity for people to find out about them. “Contractors, local government personnel, machinery operators and tradespeople can become more efficient, and work more safely through the utilization of these developments”, Mark said.

“A new initiative at the event for 2014 is a dedicated 2500 square metre pavilion for landscaping and maintenance related products and services”, he explained. “These would include products such as mowing, tree maintenance, playground equipment and street or park furniture.”

On-site demonstrations are always a big drawcard for visitors and this year there will be four separate demonstration areas; heavy equipment, including excavators and wheel loaders, smaller equipment such as mini-diggers and skid steers, a specific area to demonstrate attachments suitable for civil construction, and trucks and trailers.

These demonstration areas enable visitors to participate in the ‘trial before you buy’ initiative where potential purchasers can operate a range of machines to ascertain which are best suited to their own operation.

“Trucks in Action’ will continue to be a strong focus of the Civil Expo, with opportunities for exhibitors to demonstrate their performance in their own ‘Pit Lane’, under typical load and road conditions.

A major theme of the 2014 Expo is ‘Attachments increase efficiency’ which aims to highlight the range and versatility of attachments available for civil construction in their own separate demonstration area.

The 2014 Civil Works Expo is supported and endorsed by many key industry organisations including the Civil Contractors Federation, Municipal Works Officers Association, Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia, Construction Material Processors Association, Master Plumbers’ and Mechanical Services Association of Australia, AustStab, National Electrical and Communications Association, Association of Land Development Engineers, Dial Before You Dig, Demolition Contractors Association of Victoria and the Roadmarking Industry Association of Australia.

A special civil construction industry lunch with an entertaining and informative program will be held during the Expo to provide an opportunity for exhibitors to reward their staff and entertain their customers.

An introduction for the 2014 event will be entry to the Expo by donation and the funds generated will be given to the CFA, SES and Rural Ambulance to recognise the important work they provide to our community.

Mark Cockerell said: “Exhibitors and visitors recognise the Civil Works Expo as a valuable opportunity to make informed purchasing as well as renewing or establishing contacts and sharing industry information, and we welcome enquiries from all aspects of the industry.”

The Civil Works Expo is generously supported by Strategic Partners the Commonwealth Bank, Evans Petroleum BP and the Baw Baw Shire Council.
